LOCAL RULES AT WVCC

  1. The Cart Barn and Swimming Pool are man made structures within the Club property boundaries.  Therefore, you get one club-length relief from these structures.  A ball inside or over the fenced areas of the Swimming Pool or Tennis Courts is out of bounds.  A ball hit over the Cart Barn is also out of bounds.

  1. The old drainage ditches to the right of the 3rd-12th fairway no longer contain exposed drainage rocks.  Dirt and grass now cover these areas and although they are slightly depressed are in the rough and will be played as is.

  1. As is the case with other gardens on the course, the rock wall and gardens in front of the Tennis Courts beyond the 3rd-12th green will be played with nearest relief no nearer the hole.  You must find your ball to be eligible for relief.

  1. The ground between the cart path behind the 3rd-12th green and the front of the rock wall before the Tennis Courts is considered cart path and will be played with nearest relief, no nearer the hole.

  1. The stoned drainage ditch in front of the men’s 11th tee will be played with ball and stance relief.

  1. There are many small trees on the Golf Course with mulch around their bases.  You will play the ball as it lies except if the tree has stakes and wires.  You get relief from these stakes and wires.

  1. The wire fence behind the 5th-14th green, the split rail fence down the right side of the 4th-13th, and the wire fence down the right woods on the 6th 15th are all property boundaries and are out of bounds.  You may not move any of these fences and must play the ball as it lies.

  1. All bridge area within the (red/yellow) hazard boundaries will be played as it lies.  Remember, since you are in a hazard, you may not ground your club.

  1. All man made structures such as ball washers, watering control boxes, yardage markers, sprinkler heads and the like will be played with stance and ball relief.

  1. The right ditch over the 7th-16th pond is a lateral hazard.  A drop area is provided to the right rear of this green.  The drop is at a one stroke penalty.

  1. The lateral hazard up the right side of 7-16 will be played as follows:  1) Determine the nearest point entering the hazard.  2)  At a penalty of one stroke you take a drop within 2 club-lengths from the red lateral hazard line, no nearer the hole.

  1. The ditch passed the 7-16 green is a water hazard for 7-16 and a lateral hazard for 2-11 and 8-17.  In the case of a lateral hazard, determine point of entrance, take 2 club-lengths (no nearer the hole) and drop within at one stroke penalty.  When playing 7-16, remember you must drop on the opposite side of this (ditch) water hazard at one stroke penalty so that you again cross the water hazard.  This is the same as with any water hazard, ditch or pond, (yellow hazard line) on the course. You may drop as far away from the hazard as you wish as long as it is in a direct line away from the flagstick.

  1. There are out of bounds stakes going up the left side of the 3rd-12th fairway.  You may not move these stakes while playing the 3rd-12th hole.  These same stakes are not out of bounds coming down the 4th-13th fairway so you may remove the stakes to execute a shot.
